Liverpool are considering West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah this summer, according to sources cited by TEAMtalk. The future of Salah at Anfield is uncertain, with the Egyptian potentially having only 270 minutes remaining in a Liverpool shirt should he regain fitness from a hamstring injury.
Bowen has been a standout performer for West Ham, and former Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes the 29-year-old would be a suitable addition to the Reds’ attack, particularly if West Ham were to be relegated from the Premier League. Owen highlighted Bowen’s ability with both feet, pace, and finishing ability, stating he would have considered him for a place in the England squad.
However, West Ham are currently determined to retain Bowen, along with teammates Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes, should they avoid relegation. The club intends to block any approaches for the trio if they secure their Premier League status, with a potential £160 million windfall available should they choose to sell. West Ham’s recent form has given them a fighting chance of survival, currently locked in a battle with Tottenham Hotspur to avoid the drop.
Should West Ham suffer relegation, Bowen’s departure would become more likely, given his quality and the challenges of playing in the Championship. Liverpool are also reportedly pursuing RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but Bowen presents a Premier League-proven option. The situation is further complicated by potential departures of Virgil van Dijk, with other clubs reportedly prepared to make significant offers for the defender. Liverpool are actively planning midfield reinforcements as well, indicating a potential overhaul of key positions this summer.
