Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven is attracting significant interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United as the summer transfer window approaches. The 25-year-old Netherlands international has become a standout player for Spurs despite a challenging season for the club, leading to speculation about his future.
Liverpool are reportedly keen on bringing Van de Ven to Anfield as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, viewing his pace, composure, and commanding presence as a good fit for Arne Slot’s tactical vision. However, the Merseyside club are proceeding cautiously due to the player’s history of hamstring, thigh, and knee injuries since joining Tottenham in 2023.
Despite the injury concerns, a move to Liverpool is said to be Van de Ven’s preference, with the player being a lifelong Reds supporter and having family connections to the club. He would reportedly choose Liverpool over Manchester United if both clubs were to make formal offers.
Manchester United are also monitoring the situation, seeking to bolster their defensive options with a left-footed centre-back. A move to Old Trafford would appeal to Van de Ven, offering an opportunity to join a club in a period of positive change under new leadership.
Tottenham’s valuation of Van de Ven is currently between £60 million and £90 million, a figure influenced by their final league position. Should Spurs be relegated to the Championship, a departure for Van de Ven would be almost certain. Even if they remain in the Premier League, the player is expected to carefully consider his long-term ambitions, particularly in light of manager Roberto De Zerbi’s desire to retain him. The club are also reportedly preparing for a potential exit and are exploring replacements, including a Brighton player.
Other players being considered by both Liverpool and Tottenham include Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi, who will be a free agent this summer.
