Liverpool are reportedly interested in a move for Manchester City’s 15-year-old midfielder Xavier Parker, while also heavily pursuing two new wingers ahead of the upcoming season. The potential acquisition of Parker is seen as a move to secure future talent, with the club monitoring the progress of the highly-rated academy prospect.
Parker, who joined City from West Ham in 2024, is described as a technically gifted player with exceptional ball control, agility, and press resistance. He is capable of playing in multiple positions across midfield and attack, and Liverpool are keen to secure his signature before he becomes eligible to sign professional terms with City in May 2027. According to journalist Lewis Bower, Liverpool have been tracking the player and are continuing their trend of recruiting young talent from rival academies.
Alongside the interest in Parker, Liverpool are also leading the race to sign two dynamic wingers. The club are seeking replacements for Mohamed Salah, who has departed, and potentially Cody Gakpo, who could be used as part of a deal for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. Federico Chiesa has also indicated he may need to leave if assurances of playing time aren’t given by new manager Andoni Iraola.
Sporting CP’s Francisco Trincao has emerged as a strong candidate, with the 26-year-old having recorded 31 goal contributions last season. Record in Portugal report that Liverpool are ‘closest’ to bringing Trincao back to England, despite a previous unsuccessful loan spell with Wolves in 2021/22. The club are considering activating his €60m (£52m) release clause. Fabrizio Romano has also stated that Liverpool are accelerating their pursuit of Diomande, suggesting two new wingers could arrive before the start of the season.
Further transfer business may include a potential reunion between Iraola and Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, though Bournemouth are reportedly keen to retain his services. Jan Paul van Hecke, currently at Liverpool, is reportedly favouring a move to Tottenham Hotspur to work under Roberto De Zerbi, despite interest from Liverpool. Kennet Eichhorn has also made a decision on his future, with Liverpool having submitted what is described as the ‘most attractive offer.’
