Liverpool are monitoring six forwards currently playing in the Premier League as they prepare for a significant overhaul of their attacking options, according to a report from The Athletic. The potential changes come after selling Luis Diaz, Ben Doak, and Darwin Nunez last summer, loaning Harvey Elliott, and the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
Mohamed Salah is set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season despite having a year remaining on his contract, and Federico Chiesa is also likely to depart. Cody Gakpo has been granted permission to leave if suitable offers are received, though Hugo Ekitike remains with the club despite a long-term Achilles tendon rupture.
The six Premier League players identified by Liverpool are Mohammed Kudus of Tottenham, Yankuba Minteh of Brighton, Rayan of Bournemouth, Anthony Gordon of Newcastle, Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville of West Ham. The club’s pursuit of these players is reportedly contingent on the Premier League status of their current clubs, with Bowen, Summerville and Kudus potentially available if West Ham and Tottenham are relegated.
Liverpool’s interest in Gordon appears to have cooled, with a potential move to Bayern Munich now developing. However, Arne Slot, the expected new Liverpool manager, has prior experience with Minteh from their time together at Feyenoord. The Athletic notes that Minteh, while versatile and quick, needs to improve his decision-making and work rate off the ball, and would be the cheapest of the options.
Rayan, who joined Bournemouth in January for an initial £24.7 million, has quickly impressed with his pace, power, and ability to score and assist. However, securing his signature would be expensive, with a reported €100 million release clause in his contract. The report also acknowledges the challenge of persuading Bournemouth to sell a player who recently signed a long-term deal.
Alongside the Premier League targets, Liverpool are also considering non-Premier League options including Yan Diomande and Antonio Nusa (both RB Leipzig), Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Bradley Barcola (PSG) and Kenan Yildiz (Juventus).
