Liverpool have identified Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as their primary attacking target this summer, according to journalist Dave Davis speaking on the Anfield Index YouTube show. The club is prepared to make a substantial offer, potentially exceeding £120 million, to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.
This pursuit comes after Liverpool’s previous attempt to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig proved unsuccessful, with the player reportedly favouring a move to PSG. Barcola, a 28-cap France international, has been a consistent performer for the French champions, but concerns about limited playing time are reportedly fueling his potential exit. Talks regarding a transfer have been ongoing for several weeks.
Davis stated that Liverpool are “quite clear” that Barcola is their top target and urged the club to act decisively, suggesting that an initial offer of £85 million would be insufficient to convince PSG to sell. He highlighted the difficulty in accurately gauging a price, but believes PSG will demand a fee in excess of £120 million.
Barcola primarily operates as a left-sided winger, but possesses the versatility to play across the entire frontline, a quality that Liverpool value. The Reds are seeking a replacement for Mohamed Salah following his departure in May after nine seasons at Anfield. While Liverpool have also considered Chelsea’s Pedro Neto as a potential alternative, Davis expressed a lack of enthusiasm for the Portuguese winger.
Furthermore, sources indicate that Liverpool have been in contact with Jorge Mendes regarding potential winger signings. However, Davis believes pursuing Diomande further would be a mistake, given the player’s clear preference for PSG and interest from other top clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal.
