Liverpool are currently the frontrunners to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to sources at TEAMtalk, as speculation mounts regarding the future of Mohamed Salah and a potential return to Chelsea. The pursuit of Barcola has intensified following indications that Salah is considering options outside of Anfield.
Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s ownership, have prioritized finding a replacement for Salah, with previous target Yan Diomande now seemingly set for a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Liverpool quickly shifted their focus to Barcola, who has reportedly informed PSG of his desire to leave this summer. While PSG are keen to retain the 23-year-old France international and are considering a new contract offer, they would reportedly demand a fee of €150 million (£128m, $172m) for his sale.
TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, reports that Liverpool are “pushing hardest for a deal” for Barcola, believing he possesses the “pace, creativity and versatility” to become a key figure in their attack. Representatives for Barcola are in ongoing discussions with several top European clubs, but sources indicate the player is receptive to a move to Merseyside and would agree personal terms without issue.
Separately, a surprising development has emerged regarding Salah’s potential destination. Egyptian journalist Ahmed Darwish, as relayed by Al-Horia, claims that Chelsea are the only Premier League club capable of convincing Salah to remain in England. Despite a previous unsuccessful spell at Stamford Bridge, a return to Chelsea is reportedly Salah’s “top choice,” though the Blues have yet to make a formal approach. The appointment of former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso as Chelsea’s manager may be a contributing factor to this potential interest.
Incoming Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is also focused on securing the long-term future of existing players. He has already initiated discussions with Alexis Mac Allister regarding his role within the team, aiming to integrate the Argentinian midfielder into his tactical plans. Liverpool are reportedly relaxed about Mac Allister’s situation, despite external interest, and are confident he will remain a key component of the squad.
