Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Basaksehir winger Abbosbek Fayzullaev ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to reports from Uzbekistan outlet Zamin. The 22-year-old has impressed Liverpool’s international scouting network with his ‘quick movements and tactical acumen’ and will be further assessed during his participation in the upcoming World Cup.
Fayzullaev joined Basaksehir from CSKA Moscow last summer and has quickly established himself as a key player despite facing some minor injury setbacks. He has contributed to 11 goals in just over 1,300 minutes of Turkish Super Lig action, showcasing his ability to both score and create opportunities. Known for his exceptional dribbling and playmaking skills, he has been on Liverpool’s radar for the past year.
The potential move for Fayzullaev aligns with new manager Andoni Iraola’s desire to reshape the Liverpool squad, particularly in the wide areas following the anticipated departure of Mohamed Salah and uncertainty surrounding Cody Gakpo’s future. While Liverpool invested heavily in attacking options last summer, strengthening depth remains a priority.
Fayzullaev primarily plays on the right flank but is versatile enough to feature on the left. However, he is currently viewed as a rotational option due to his limited experience at the highest level of European football. Liverpool are also reportedly making significant progress in their pursuit of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, with Fabrizio Romano claiming they are currently ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the race due to their willingness to offer a more lucrative salary. The situation is further complicated by PSG’s reluctance to sell Bradley Barcola, which could pave the way for Diomande’s move to Anfield.
Liverpool are also exploring other potential signings, including a possible move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, as suggested by former goalkeeper David James. The club is actively assessing options across multiple positions as Iraola aims to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
