Liverpool are exploring a move for Bournemouth winger Rayan as a potential alternative to Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, according to a report by TalkSport. The Reds were quoted a British record fee of £145 million (€170m) for Barcola, but with PSG seemingly unwilling to sell, Liverpool are assessing other options in the Premier League.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has already publicly acknowledged the need for a winger, stating, “There are obvious situations that we know where we need to sign players. A winger, for example – we definitely need to sign a winger.” Iraola’s comments suggest the Cherries are prepared for potential offers for Rayan, who has quickly become a key player for the club.
Rayan joined Bournemouth in January and has made a significant impact, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 15 appearances. This impressive form has led Liverpool to identify the 19-year-old as a “dream” alternative to Barcola, particularly given Barcola’s release clause of over £85 million (€100m) does not become active until next year. The Brazilian’s tendency to play on the right wing also offers a different profile to the left-sided Barcola, potentially filling a need in Liverpool’s attack.
Liverpool have already completed one major signing this summer, bringing in Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5 million (€40m). The club also boasts promising young talents like Rio Ngumoha, alongside established international players such as Cody Gakpo, lessening the immediate pressure to add further reinforcements. However, the potential to replace Mohamed Salah with a player of Rayan’s calibre is clearly appealing to the Anfield hierarchy. The pursuit of Rayan could become more intense as the transfer window progresses, especially if a deal for Barcola proves unattainable. Securing Rayan would provide Liverpool with a dynamic attacking option and potentially address a long-term need on the right wing.
