Liverpool have submitted an £85 million (€100m) bid for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to French journalist Sebastien Vidal reporting on X. The move comes as Andoni Iraola seeks to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah’s departure at the end of June.
The Reds have already secured the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer, but are prioritizing a replacement for Salah on the right wing. Barcola, 23, has been identified as a key target, and Liverpool are hoping to convince PSG to sell despite the player’s contract having two years remaining.
Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in the summer of 2023 for a fee of €45m and has since made 152 appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals and providing 37 assists. He is known for his pace and dribbling ability, as well as a strong work rate, qualities that reportedly made him attractive to former PSG manager Luis Enrique.
While capable of playing across the front line, Barcola has primarily featured on the left wing during his time in Paris. His profile suits a team that favors direct attacking play, making him a potentially good fit for Iraola’s system at Liverpool. However, his recent form has drawn some criticism, particularly regarding his finishing, with 13 goals and seven assists across all competitions last season.
PSG may be willing to consider the offer as contract negotiations with Barcola have stalled. The club could view the substantial bid – significantly higher than the player’s Estimated Transfer Value of £54m (€63.6m) – as a valuable opportunity to recoup a significant fee for a player who may not be fully content. Some observers have drawn parallels between the scrutiny Barcola has faced in France and the initial doubts surrounding Salah before his move to Liverpool in 2017, suggesting the Frenchman could flourish with a change of scenery.
