Liverpool are exploring a move for Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure after their pursuit of Yan Diomande ended with the player choosing Paris Saint-Germain, according to TEAMtalk. The Reds were heavily invested in signing Diomande as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who departed the club this summer after nine years at Anfield.
However, the 24-year-old Diomande has reportedly made it clear he prefers a transfer to PSG, with the French champions now in official talks with RB Leipzig to secure his signature. Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, had been working on a deal for Diomande for months, dating back to last year, but has been unsuccessful.
As a result, Liverpool have quickly identified alternatives, and Toure, Diomande’s international teammate with Ivory Coast, has emerged as a strong candidate. The 20-year-old enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign with Hoffenheim, contributing to 17 goals in 30 Bundesliga appearances – scoring five and providing 12 assists. While his goal contributions are slightly lower than Diomande’s, Toure could be available for a significantly lower fee.
Hoffenheim are expected to demand around €40 million (£34.6m / $46.4m) for Toure, potentially rising to €45 million with add-ons, which would still be below Liverpool’s club-record sale of Joelinton to Newcastle. Toure is under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029 and does not have a release clause, giving the German club a strong negotiating position. Despite this, Liverpool have already registered their interest and could make a formal bid.
Separately, Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has informed Federico Chiesa that he has no future at Anfield. The Italian international, signed by Arne Slot in 2025, has failed to make a significant impact, with only 10 goal contributions in 50 appearances. Iraola has reportedly told Chiesa to find a new club, with Liverpool seeking a fee of between £10m and £15m for the 28-year-old. Iraola is aiming to have four wingers in his squad for the 2026/27 season, including Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz, and potentially Toure.
