Arsenal and Liverpool both hold interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, but Liverpool’s hesitation may lead the 23-year-old to choose the Gunners, according to reports from L’Equipe. Barcola’s future at PSG is uncertain following the January 2025 arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, impacting his playing time and leading him to decline a contract extension.
Liverpool previously expressed interest in Barcola in 2025, but PSG refused to sell despite the player’s frustration. Arsenal have now entered the race, seeking a marquee signing for the left wing position, though they have also been linked with Kvaratskhelia, who PSG are unwilling to part with.
L’Equipe reports that PSG are prepared to re-enter contract negotiations with Barcola after the Champions League final, but a successful outcome is not guaranteed. Barcola himself views the upcoming summer transfer window as crucial for his career progression, anticipating further competition for playing time at PSG should the club pursue additional attacking signings.
While Liverpool’s interest is described as genuine, the club are reportedly reluctant to sign a left-winger due to the presence of Rio Ngumoha. Liverpool director Richard Hughes is believed to be cautious about hindering the development of the 17-year-old, mirroring the reasoning behind not adequately replacing Luis Diaz last year. This strategy has backfired, with Ngumoha struggling for minutes and Cody Gakpo lacking consistency, contributing to a disappointing season for Liverpool.
Despite Ngumoha gaining another year of experience, concerns remain about his physical readiness for the demands of the Premier League. Liverpool prioritizing a replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right wing does not negate the need for strengthening on the left, and their reluctance to pursue Barcola potentially hands Arsenal a significant advantage in securing his signature. This could be the latest in a series of missteps from the Liverpool hierarchy this season.
