Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as a potential replacement for Alisson Becker, according to TuttoJuve. The news comes as the Reds are also said to be in talks with Atalanta over a summer move for Brazilian midfielder Ederson Silva.
Alisson Becker’s future at Anfield is uncertain, with the goalkeeper ‘intrigued’ by a potential move to Juventus, who have offered him a two-year contract with a one-year extension option, as reported by TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey. This has prompted Liverpool to explore options, with Martinez emerging as a candidate.
Martinez, a 33-year-old World Cup winner with Argentina, is a key player for Aston Villa, having been described by manager Unai Emery as “the best goalkeeper in the world” in September 2025. While Liverpool are also considering other goalkeeping options such as James Trafford of Manchester City and Giorgi Mamardashvili, they are keeping a close eye on Martinez’s situation.
Alongside the goalkeeping search, Liverpool are pursuing Ederson from Atalanta. The Serie A club are seeking €50million (£43.2m, $59m) for the defensive midfielder. Atletico Madrid were previously interested but have shifted their focus to Joao Gomes of Wolves, opening the door for Liverpool, as well as Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United, to make a move. Ederson’s agents have reportedly held talks with Liverpool within the last ten days.
Liverpool are also facing competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, who is expected to be available in the summer of 2026. Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also tracking the England international, but PSG’s interest adds another dimension to the potential transfer. Gordon is reportedly open to playing abroad.
These potential signings signal an active summer transfer window for Liverpool as Arne Slot prepares for his first season in charge, potentially reshaping key areas of the squad.
