Lorenzo Villa has completed a permanent transfer from Juventus to Swiss Super League side Sion, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 2003-born central defender departs Juventus Next Gen seeking regular first-team football after developing through the Italian club’s youth system.
Villa arrived at Juventus in January 2025 from Pineto in Serie C, quickly establishing himself as a reliable presence in the Next Gen squad. He brought experience and physicality to the team, contributing to their defensive solidity. Last season, the defender spent a loan spell with Padova in Serie B, gaining valuable experience at a higher level of competition. Juventus stated that Villa had brought “an important baggage of experience” from his time in Serie C.
The move to Sion represents a new chapter in Villa’s professional career, allowing him to test himself in a different footballing environment. While the financial details of the transfer were not disclosed, the move is understood to be a permanent deal, signifying Juventus’ willingness to allow the young defender to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
In a separate announcement, Juventus also revealed that Alessandro Bassino has renewed his contract with the club until June 30, 2028, before immediately joining Folgore Caratese on a season-long loan for the 2026/2027 campaign. Bassino, a 2006-born defender, has been a consistent figure for Juventus’ Under 20 side, amassing over fifty appearances and frequently captaining the team. He also made two appearances for Juventus Next Gen in the 2023/2024 season. Bassino gained professional experience with Audace Cerignola last season and will now look to further his development at Folgore Caratese. These moves demonstrate Juventus’ commitment to developing young talent while simultaneously providing opportunities for players to gain valuable experience through loans.
