Lucas Digne is set to rejoin Paris Saint-Germain from Aston Villa on a three-year contract, with the Ligue 1 champions triggering his release clause for a fee of just under €10 million, according to reports from L’Équipe and Le Parisien. The transfer comes on Digne’s 33rd birthday.
The France international underwent a medical examination with PSG on Monday afternoon and will compete with Nuno Mendes for the starting left-back position. Digne previously played for the Parisian club between 2013 and 2016, making 44 appearances before moving to Barcelona and then later to Everton.
Digne arrived at Aston Villa in January 2022 for a reported fee of €30 million from Everton, where he had established himself as a key player over four seasons, featuring in 127 matches. He was a part of the Aston Villa side that won the Europa Conference League last season, a trophy he will now aim to add to with PSG. He has earned 64 caps for the French national team, including five starts at the recent 2026 World Cup.
The move represents a return to a familiar environment for Digne, and provides PSG with experienced cover and competition at left-back. He will face his former club in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 12th, adding an immediate competitive edge to his return. The transfer strengthens PSG’s squad depth as they compete on multiple fronts next season.
