Olympique Lyonnais have finalized deals for two midfielders ahead of the July 1st transfer window opening, according to reports in France. The club, now under new ownership from Michele Kang, has secured the permanent signing of Mads Bidstrup from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of €10.5 million.
The arrival of the 25-year-old Danish midfielder adds depth to Lyon’s midfield options as they prepare for Champions League football next season. Bidstrup progressed through the youth ranks at RB Leipzig and Brentford, making his professional debut with the latter, but found prominence during his time with Nordsjælland alongside current Lyon target Ernest Nuamah. He subsequently became a key player within the Red Bull system, featuring regularly for Salzburg and demonstrating qualities as a ball-winner and a player with a high work rate.
Lyon have also confirmed the permanent transfer of Noham Kamara from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €4 million. The double acquisition signals a proactive approach from Kang’s ownership group to strengthen the squad. Manager Paulo Fonseca is expected to utilize Bidstrup alongside Tyler Morton in a double pivot, with the latter having impressed last season.
Further additions are anticipated at the Groupama Stadium, with Mohamed Oudréaogo, a left-back from SCR Altach, and Julian Duranville also reportedly close to joining the club. The club is actively reshaping its squad under new leadership, aiming to build on their recent successes and compete effectively in both domestic and European competitions. Bidstrup’s arrival provides a dynamic presence in midfield, complementing the existing qualities within the Lyon squad and bolstering their options for the upcoming campaign.
