Olympique Lyonnais Féminin have announced the signing of Spanish forward Salma Paralluelo on a four-year contract, keeping her at the club until 2030. The transfer brings a highly-rated attacker to Ligue 1, following the expiration of her contract at FC Barcelona.
The 22-year-old arrives in Lyon with a decorated career already underway, having secured four Spanish league titles and three Champions League trophies during her four years with Barcelona from 2022 to 2026. Paralluelo played a key role in Barcelona’s most recent Champions League triumph in May, scoring twice in the final against Lyon in a 4-0 victory.
Paralluelo’s success extends to the international stage, where she is a World Cup winner with Spain, having lifted the trophy in 2023. She also has a European Championship silver medal to her name, and uniquely, has won World Cup titles at the U17 (2018), U20 (2022) and senior levels. Before dedicating herself fully to football, Paralluelo was a promising junior athlete, excelling in track and field events such as the 400 metres and 300 metres hurdles.
Her departure from Barcelona comes after her contract expired at the end of June, initiating a period of significant change for the Catalan club. Barcelona have also seen Alexia Putellas and Mapi Leon move to London City Lionesses, both clubs owned by Michele Kang, while Ona Batlle has joined Arsenal. Lyon’s acquisition of Paralluelo represents a significant statement of intent as they look to reassert their dominance in both domestic and European competitions.
