Olympique Lyonnais have announced the signing of Kaïl Boudache from Nice, with the player penning a five-year contract with the club. The transfer was completed on the day of Boudache’s 20th birthday, according to reports in France. The move sees the promising winger join Lyon as their first major signing of the summer transfer window.
Boudache, an Algeria U23 international, progressed through the youth ranks at Nice and was integrated into the first team by manager Claude Puel in January. He made 19 appearances for the club, scoring three goals, including a crucial strike in the Ligue 1/Ligue 2 playoff return leg against Saint-Étienne which helped secure Nice’s top-flight status. His contract with Nice had recently expired, making him a free agent.
Lyon officials were reportedly impressed by Boudache’s technical ability and moved quickly to secure his signature, offering him his first professional contract. He previously experienced European football with Nice, making his debut in a Europa League match against Go Ahead Eagles. The club saw Boudache as a valuable addition to their attacking options, providing pace and creativity on the wing.
The transfer represents an opportunity for Boudache to establish himself as a key player in Ligue 1 with a club that has a strong track record of developing young talent. For Lyon, the signing bolsters their squad ahead of the upcoming season and adds competition for places in the forward line. This acquisition signals Lyon’s intent to challenge at the higher end of the table and potentially compete for European qualification.
