Real Madrid have no intention of selling Kylian Mbappe this summer despite growing unrest both on and off the pitch, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The news comes as an online petition calling for the France international’s departure has surpassed 31.7 million signatures.
The situation at the Santiago Bernabéu is increasingly fraught, with Madrid facing the prospect of finishing the season without major silverware. Reports have surfaced detailing friction within the squad, including a reported falling out between Dani Ceballos and manager Alvaro Arbeloa, as well as a training ground altercation involving Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Carreras. Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde reportedly almost came to blows during a training session this week.
Mbappe himself has faced criticism recently, notably for a trip to Italy with his partner while recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Real Betis on April 24th. This prompted accusations from some supporters that he was prioritizing personal matters over the team’s struggles. The online petition, which initially aimed for 200,000 signatures, has now broken Guinness World Record numbers, though the authenticity of all signatures remains unverified.
Despite the intense scrutiny and fan dissatisfaction, Romano insists that Madrid are remaining steadfast in their commitment to Mbappe. He stated on his YouTube channel that while the current relationship is “not the best moment,” there is “nothing” to suggest the club are considering a sale. Romano emphasized that the problems at Madrid extend beyond Mbappe, citing a number of complicated situations within the team.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, arriving with immense expectations. He has contributed with goals and assists, but his impact hasn't yet translated into team success. The club will hope to resolve the internal issues and allow Mbappe to flourish in the coming seasons. The situation highlights the pressure on the player and the club to deliver results, and a successful campaign next season will be crucial to appease the supporters and restore harmony.
