Manchester United have initiated discussions with representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson, with Newcastle United also expressing interest in the 22-year-old Sweden international, according to FootballTransfers. Both Premier League clubs have made initial contact to assess a potential move for Larsson, who joined Frankfurt from Malmo in 2023 for a fee of €9 million.
Frankfurt are currently holding firm on a reported €50 million valuation for Larsson, significantly higher than his Estimated Transfer Value of €27.6 million, due to his contract running until 2029. While conversations have begun, neither United nor Newcastle have submitted a formal bid at this stage.
Separately, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on United’s interest in Roma midfielder Manu Kone, stating that the club has held preliminary phone conversations with the player’s agents. Romano emphasized that no formal approach has been made to Roma and refuted reports suggesting Kone would command a fee of €80-90 million, suggesting a lower price point is more realistic. United are reportedly taking time to evaluate their midfield options before making a concrete move.
Romano also clarified that any potential move for West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville is contingent on the future of Marcus Rashford. United spoke with Summerville’s representatives in June, but have not made an official bid and are unlikely to do so while Rashford remains at the club. Summerville is considered an option should Rashford depart.
Finally, Manchester United received over €12 million from Mason Greenwood’s recent transfer from Marseille to Fenerbahce. Marseille sporting director Gregory Lorenzi explained that the fee was lower than anticipated due to the complexities surrounding Greenwood’s situation and limited interest from other clubs, impacting United’s potential sell-on revenue.
