Manchester United are increasingly confident of securing the signings of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United and Ederson from Atalanta in a combined deal worth £139 million, according to reports from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. The potential acquisitions are viewed as key components of manager Michael Carrick’s plans to strengthen the squad ahead of a Champions League campaign.
The Red Devils are preparing for the departure of Casemiro at the end of the season and anticipate a sale of Manuel Ugarte, making midfield reinforcements a priority. While Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson remains a target, his club’s recent survival in the Premier League has reportedly led to a valuation of £125 million, potentially pricing United out of a move.
Tonali, a key player for Newcastle, could be available for around £100 million as the club looks to rebuild its squad. Newcastle are reportedly preparing to sell one or two of their star players to facilitate this process. Ederson, meanwhile, has only one year remaining on his contract with Atalanta and is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford, with the Serie A club seeking a fee of approximately £39 million.
United’s pursuit of Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, however, faces competition from several other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Bayern Munich have also entered the race, having already held discussions with Newcastle regarding other players, such as Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento. The Bundesliga champions are actively seeking to bolster their defensive options for the upcoming season.
Separately, Casemiro is expected to complete a move to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer once his contract with United expires. The veteran midfielder reportedly turned down offers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and his native Brazil to join the MLS side, bringing an end to a successful European career that included spells with Real Madrid and Manchester United.
