Manchester United have submitted an enquiry to Crystal Palace regarding the potential transfer of Senegal forward Ismaila Sarr, according to French publication Foot Mercato. The move comes as Michael Carrick looks to further bolster his squad following the signings of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Karl Darlow this summer.
Sarr, 28, enjoyed a prolific 2025-26 season, scoring 21 goals and providing two assists in 45 appearances for Crystal Palace across all competitions. He also impressed on the international stage at the World Cup, netting four times as Senegal reached the round of 32. His performances earned him the Europa Conference League Player of the Year award after Palace secured their first ever European trophy.
The report claims that United are among several clubs to have expressed interest in Sarr, seeking to bring him to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes. Sarr is reportedly a lifelong Manchester United supporter and is open to discussing a move should the clubs agree on a fee.
Sarr’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is listed at €37.4 million, but Crystal Palace are expected to demand a substantial fee given his continued success and the length of his contract, which doesn't expire until 2029. The forward’s style of play has been particularly effective in Palace’s counter-attacking system.
However, analysis suggests Sarr’s skillset may not be ideally suited to United’s anticipated possession-based approach. Competition for a starting position would also be fierce, with Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo already vying for places in Carrick’s squad. Sarr has occasionally featured as a forward for both Senegal and Crystal Palace, potentially offering cover for Benjamin Sesko. A deal may hinge on whether United can move on existing players to create space in the squad and accommodate Sarr’s transfer fee.
