Manchester United are increasing their efforts to sign Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund following the midfielder’s strong performances at the 2026 World Cup. Nmecha has started all three of Germany’s matches in the tournament, contributing one goal and one assist, and has been a long-standing target for the Premier League club.
According to Sky Sport Germany, United are actively pursuing a deal, with football director Christopher Vivell maintaining close contact with Nmecha’s representatives. However, Dortmund are expected to demand a fee of approximately €80 million for the 25-year-old. United face competition from other European giants, including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid, who are also monitoring the player’s situation.
In other transfer news, Newcastle United have rejected a second bid from Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Sandro Tonali. Spurs offered around £75 million (€87 million) for the Italian, following a previous offer that was also turned down. Newcastle are reportedly seeking a fee of £100 million (€115.9 million) for Tonali, but have yet to receive any offers reaching that valuation. Tottenham inquired whether Newcastle would reconsider their initial rejection, but were again unsuccessful.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for a Newcastle midfielder, with reports suggesting they have held preliminary talks with Bruno Guimaraes’s camp. The Daily Mail reports that representatives are ‘gauging the market’ for the Brazilian captain after his World Cup displays. Guimaraes has two years remaining on his contract and has publicly expressed no desire to leave, but Arsenal’s interest could prompt a formal offer. Newcastle have publicly stated that Guimaraes is not for sale and that they have not received any contact from Arsenal or any other club.
Real Madrid have confirmed they will exercise their buy-back option for Nico Paz from Como, but may still seek to sell the midfielder for a significant profit. Madrid can bring Paz back to the Santiago Bernabéu for €9 million, having sold him to Como for €6 million in 2024. Sky Sport Italy reports that Los Blancos could look to sell Paz for €60 million, including an €80 million buy-back clause for Como, giving the Italian club first refusal on re-signing the Argentine international.
Further reports indicate Wolves have set a £15 million price tag for left-back Huge Bueno, attracting interest from Fiorentina, while Bournemouth have joined the race for Benfica’s Richard Rios. Inter Milan are considering a move for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, and Sporting CP captain Morten Hjulmand is attracting attention from several Premier League clubs. Jarrod Bowen of West Ham is reportedly open to a move to Everton, and Atlético Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen for around €25 million.
