Manchester United have expressed strong interest in signing Prince Amoako Junior from FC Nordsjaelland, according to reports from Ghanaian news outlet MyJoy. The 19-year-old winger has emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils as they plan for the summer transfer window, though TEAMtalk suggests the club’s new ownership group, INEOS, may be hesitant about meeting the Danish club’s valuation.
United are reportedly prioritizing strengthening their midfield, but are also seeking competition for the left wing position currently occupied by Matheus Cunha. Amoako has impressed in Denmark’s Superliga, making 33 appearances for Nordsjaelland and contributing nine goals and six assists. He signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2025 and is currently tied to Nordsjaelland until the summer of 2030.
Nordsjaelland are expected to demand a transfer fee in the region of €27 million to €32 million (up to £28m) for the Ghanaian international. Several other European clubs have also been monitoring Amoako’s progress, including Paris Saint-Germain, Brighton & Hove Albion, SC Freiburg, Feyenoord, Bournemouth, RB Leipzig, Arsenal, and Borussia Dortmund. This widespread interest suggests a competitive market for the promising winger.
Despite United’s interest, TEAMtalk reports that INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, may be reluctant to authorize a deal worth £28 million for a relatively unproven player. Ratcliffe’s ownership has signaled a more cautious approach to spending, focusing on strategic acquisitions rather than lavish outlays. The club are currently prioritizing a move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with reports from Fabrizio Romano’s colleague, Matteo Moretto, suggesting United have already made a substantial contract offer to the Brazilian.
The potential acquisition of Ederson indicates that the majority of United’s transfer budget will be allocated to strengthening the midfield. While a left-winger remains on their list of targets, Amoako’s price tag may prove to be a significant obstacle, potentially opening the door for other interested clubs to secure his signature. A move for Amoako could provide United with a long-term option on the left flank, while his departure would leave Nordsjaelland seeking a replacement for one of their key attacking assets.
