Manchester United have rekindled their interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The club initially considered a move for the Brazilian last year but Atalanta were unwilling to sell, having already parted with several players. However, Ederson has now informed Atalanta of his desire to seek a new challenge, prompting United to revisit the possibility.
Romano reports that United representatives recently held discussions in Italy regarding multiple midfield targets, including Ederson and Sandro Tonali. While no deal is currently close, the player’s availability has prompted renewed consideration. Meanwhile, Liverpool have secured the signing of 17-year-old Colombian talent Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional, with the player joining when he turns 18 in 2027.
The move for Martinez was fiercely contested, with Borussia Dortmund and another unnamed European giant both making attempts to sign the teenager. Liverpool ultimately prevailed, agreeing a deal that includes a percentage of any future sale. Liverpool are also actively pursuing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with Paris Saint-Germain also in contention. United have expressed interest but are unwilling to meet Diomande’s reported €100 million price tag, while Tottenham’s pursuit has already stalled.
Diomande’s preference will be decisive in determining his destination. Elsewhere, Liverpool retain a long-standing interest in PSG winger Bradley Barcola, and could intensify their pursuit if Diomande opts to join PSG. Arsenal are also monitoring Barcola’s situation. In managerial news, Enzo Maresca is set to replace Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager, with a three-year contract already agreed. Guardiola officially confirmed his departure from the club earlier this month, bringing an end to a hugely successful spell in charge.
