Manchester United have informed the representatives of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande that they will not pursue a deal worth €100million (£86.4m, $116m) this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has been a target for United, with initial reports of their interest surfacing in December 2025 from TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey.
However, the club is prioritizing investment in midfield positions and considers the fee demanded by Leipzig to be excessive, particularly following their agreement to sign Benjamin Šeško from the same club last year. Romano detailed on his YouTube channel that United have communicated this stance to those close to the player.
Diomande has emerged as a promising talent in the Bundesliga, showcasing pace and skill on the wing for Leipzig. While he has not yet become a consistent starter, his potential has attracted attention from several top clubs across Europe. Leipzig are also reportedly considering offering Diomande a new contract in an attempt to retain his services.
Liverpool are also actively engaged in discussions with Diomande’s agency, Roc Nation Sports, alongside Paris Saint-Germain. Tottenham Hotspur previously expressed interest but a deal appears unlikely. The player himself is reportedly open to remaining at Leipzig for another season before considering a move in 2027. This willingness to wait could potentially lower his price tag and increase the number of potential suitors.
The decision by Manchester United reflects their current transfer strategy, focusing on strengthening key areas of the squad while maintaining financial prudence. While they recognize Diomande’s potential, they are unwilling to meet Leipzig’s valuation at this time. This could open the door for Liverpool or PSG to make a significant offer for the young winger.
