Manchester United remain interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer, despite Manchester City currently being in a more advanced position to secure his services, according to TEAMtalk. Anderson, 23, has reportedly already agreed personal terms with City, with Pep Guardiola keen to add him to his squad before the upcoming World Cup.
However, a transfer to the Etihad Stadium is not yet finalized, as negotiations between City and Forest continue, with a significant difference in valuation remaining. Forest are reportedly holding firm, valuing Anderson in excess of £100million, and believe his worth could even surpass the £105million Arsenal paid for Declan Rice. City are prepared to break their transfer record, but are currently around £20million short of Forest’s demands.
Sources close to Old Trafford have indicated that United have continued discussions regarding a potential move for Anderson, acknowledging City’s advantage but refusing to concede defeat. The Red Devils view the England international as an ideal fit for their midfield rebuild, citing his technical quality, athleticism, and Premier League experience.
United are anticipating significant changes in midfield this summer following the departure of Casemiro and the potential sale of Manuel Ugarte. They already have an agreement in place to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson and are also pursuing West Ham United’s Matheus Fernandes, aiming to bring in as many as three midfielders during the current transfer window. Anderson remains a key target in that pursuit. While City are optimistic about finalizing a deal, United are prepared to capitalize on any breakdown in negotiations between City and Forest, believing there is still time for the situation to change.
