Manchester United have scheduled meetings this week to discuss the departures of several first-team players, with Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Andre Onana, and Marcus Rashford all available for transfer, according to a report from Samuel Luckhurst of The Sun. The club aims to facilitate a significant squad overhaul, with up to ten players potentially leaving Old Trafford this summer to fund new signings and reshape the squad under the INEOS leadership.
The planned exits represent a substantial financial undertaking, given the combined £134 million outlay on Onana, Zirkzee, and Ugarte. Andre Onana, currently on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, could make his move permanent, though United are expected to incur a loss on the goalkeeper for whom they paid £47 million. Joshua Zirkzee's sale is also being actively pursued, with sources indicating that Juventus are among up to six clubs interested in a transfer described as potentially "complex."
Manuel Ugarte's time at the club appears short-lived, with reports stating co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to sanction the midfielder's sale after watching him play. Galatasaray are cited as a potential destination for the Uruguayan. The situation surrounding Marcus Rashford, on loan at Barcelona, remains fluid. The Catalan club holds a €30 million (£26m) option to buy, but are reportedly keen on another loan deal, an approach that has displeased United officials who seek a permanent sale. Tottenham Hotspur are also credited with genuine interest in the England winger.
The scale of the intended clearout underscores the new regime's desire to move quickly in the transfer market. The club's recruitment strategy reportedly targets two new central midfielders, a centre-back, a left-back, and a left winger, with further moves for a right-back and a backup goalkeeper dependent on sales. The need to balance the books and free up squad space is driving the aggressive stance on outgoings.
Further players likely to depart include Altay Bayindir, Toby Collyer, and Rasmus Hojlund, whose loan switch to Napoli is set to become permanent for £38 million. The club is also prepared to release Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia. The potential sales of Zirkzee and Rashford, in particular, would mark a significant shift in United's attacking options, with the club already linked with a Premier League striker viewed internally as a dream upgrade for Zirkzee. The coming weeks are poised to define the early stages of INEOS's first full summer in charge at Old Trafford.
