Mason Mount has strongly indicated his intention to remain at Manchester United next season, dismissing rumours of a potential summer departure. The 27-year-old midfielder made the comments while attending a Make A Wish foundation event at St George's Park, expressing his ambition to win the Premier League with the club. Mount's future had been subject to speculation following an injury-disrupted three-year spell at Old Trafford since his €68 million move from Chelsea in 2023.
According to recent reports, Mount was among several United players considered available for transfer if suitable offers arrived this summer. Multiple Premier League clubs had been linked with the England international, whose opportunities have been limited both by fitness issues and the presence of club captain Bruno Fernandes in his preferred attacking midfield role. Mount has made just 23 Premier League starts for United, scoring seven goals in 69 total appearances across all competitions.
However, speaking to BBC Sport, Mount outlined his commitment to the project at Old Trafford. "I've won the Champions League already, so I have a goal of winning the Premier League. Can we do that? Yes, I think we can," he said. The midfielder acknowledged the challenge, stating, "It may seem a little bit far away, but you must have that mentality to really push yourself as a group." He pointed to United's performances against top rivals as evidence of their potential.
Mount's contract runs until 2028, giving United a strong negotiating position should any formal offers materialise. His comments suggest a desire to fight for his place despite a season where he has not started a league match since the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United. "I will always back myself," Mount added. "I know what I'm about and what I can bring. I love being a part of a massive club."
The player also referenced the positive experience of winning the FA Cup last season as motivation for further success. "To do a Premier League? I can't even imagine how special that would be," he said. His stated focus on contributing to a title challenge next season, coupled with the anticipated increased fixture load from a return to the Champions League, represents a clear signal that he sees his future at the club.
For Manchester United, Mount's public commitment provides clarity ahead of a busy summer transfer window. It suggests the club's hierarchy may now be planning with him as part of the squad for the forthcoming campaign, potentially altering their midfield recruitment strategy. Mount's challenge will be to overcome his injury troubles and secure a more consistent role in the team to fulfil the ambitions he has now openly declared.
