The summer transfer window continued to deliver a flurry of activity across Europe’s top five leagues on Saturday, with several high-profile moves officially completed. Real Madrid, under newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho, have secured the services of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for a reported fee of €146 million as part of a larger sale from the Blues.
Chelsea have been equally active, bringing in Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for €138 million and Marco Palestra from Atalanta for €55 million as Xabi Alonso looks to bolster his squad. Andrey Santos and Tyrique George have departed Stamford Bridge permanently, joining Manchester United and Everton respectively, contributing to a total of approximately €146 million in player sales. Alejandro Garnacho has also moved from Chelsea to Aston Villa on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy.
Manchester United have added Youri Tielemans for €41 million and Karl Darlow on a free transfer as Michael Carrick prepares for his first full season in charge. Manchester City have invested heavily in midfield, signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for €136 million, alongside Mathys Detourbet (€25m) and Jeremy Monga (€14.1m). Arsenal secured the signature of Christos Tzolis for €40 million and Illan Meslier on a free transfer, while Liverpool added Victor Munoz from Osasuna for €40 million and Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional for €879,000.
Outside of the Premier League, Barcelona have strengthened their attack with the acquisitions of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for €80 million and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for an initial €22 million, potentially rising to €29 million. La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid have also been busy, securing Kang-in Lee from PSG for €40 million. In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich have signed Nathaniel Brown (€55m) and Ismael Saibari (€55m), and Serie A sees AC Milan bring in Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for a club-record €70 million as Ruben Amorim begins his tenure. Several smaller deals also took place across the leagues, including Daizen Maeda’s move from Celtic to Ipswich for €12 million and Luca Erlein’s transfer from Hoffenheim to Bayer Leverkusen for €2 million.
These moves signal an intent from Europe’s top clubs to solidify their squads ahead of the 2026-27 season, with significant investment being made in both established stars and promising young talent. The reshaping of squads across the continent is expected to continue as the transfer window progresses.
