Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, and Kevin Durant were among a host of sporting and entertainment stars who attended the Fanatics Fest in New York from July 16th to 19th. The event, a large festival dedicated to sports enthusiasts, brought together key figures ahead of Argentina’s upcoming match against Spain.
Argentina’s World Cup winning squad members Luis de la Fuente, Rodri, Lionel Scaloni, Lionel Messi, and Emiliano Martínez all participated in Q&A sessions with other athletes present at the festival. The gathering took place just days before Argentina’s match against Spain, offering a relaxed environment for the players before a crucial international fixture.
Notably, several individuals with ownership stakes in football clubs were in attendance. Durant has an ownership position in the Philadelphia 76ers, while Djokovic is a shareholder in the French club Le Mans. Tom Brady, a part-owner of Birmingham City, was also present, alongside former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand. Entertainment figures Kevin Hart and Travis Scott also made appearances.
The Fanatics Fest provided a platform for interaction between athletes from various disciplines, fostering a sense of camaraderie before major sporting events. Messi’s attendance is particularly noteworthy, given his continued status as a global icon following Argentina’s World Cup triumph in Qatar last December. He recently discussed a viral photo with young teammate Lamine Yamal.
This event highlights the increasing intersection of sports, entertainment, and business, with high-profile athletes actively involved in ownership and promotional activities. The presence of such a diverse group of stars underscores the growing commercial appeal of global football and its key players.
