Milan are reportedly pursuing Atalanta’s sporting director Tony D’Amico, according to reports in Italy on May 15th, 2026. The move comes as a potential shakeup of directors of sport across several Serie A clubs gains momentum. Atalanta’s ownership, the Percassi family, have reportedly given D’Amico permission to leave, with Cristiano Giuntoli identified as his replacement.
The potential arrival of Giuntoli at Atalanta is linked to the impending appointment of Thiago Motta as the club’s new head coach, replacing Gian Piero Gasperini. Giuntoli previously managed Juventus, leaving the club last June despite having three years remaining on his contract. He has since been linked with several positions, including at Roma, but appears to be nearing an agreement with Atalanta. Giuntoli was instrumental in bringing Motta to Juventus, though their working relationship ultimately ended acrimoniously.
At Milan, the relationship between current sporting director Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare has reportedly deteriorated, particularly following a challenging season for the club. Furlani, appointed by owner Gerry Cardinale, faced a lengthy wait for approval, with previous approaches for Paratici and D’Amico both failing. This instability has contributed to the current situation with Tare.
Roma are also actively seeking a new sporting director, with Giovanni Manna of Napoli having been a recent candidate. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has blocked Manna’s departure, prioritizing continuity within the club regardless of the future of manager Antonio Conte. As a result, Roma are now considering Cristiano Giaretta, currently at Pafos in Cyprus, who has a track record of developing young players, including Bruno Fernandes during his time at Udinese. Inter, meanwhile, are focused on contract renewals, with Christian Chivu in line for a significant pay rise following their Serie A title win, and discussions ongoing to extend his contract beyond its 2027 expiry.
Elsewhere, Lazio’s Lotito is evaluating the position of sporting director Fabiani, dependent on the club’s end-of-season performance. Cagliari’s Guido Angelozzi is attracting interest from Cremonese, while Pisa have appointed Leonardo Gabbanini to oversee a club rebuild following relegation. Verona have retained the services of Sean Sogliano.
