Juventus are streamlining their squad and reinforcing their defense with a pair of moves between themselves and Bologna. Midfielder Fabio Miretti is set to move to Bologna immediately, while Colombian defender Jhon Lucumi is poised to join Juventus. The moves are driven by Juventus’ need to balance their finances and generate a capital gain of between 12 and 13 million euros by Tuesday.
Miretti’s transfer will secure these funds for the Turin club. The 20-year-old is a versatile midfielder capable of contributing in attacking phases, and his departure will allow Juventus to meet their financial targets. Lucumi, meanwhile, has attracted the attention of Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti due to his versatility and ability to initiate attacks from defense. Spalletti views these qualities as crucial for his tactical approach.
The timeline for these transactions is firm: Miretti will leave Turin immediately, with Lucumi expected to arrive at Juventus in the first days of July. Juventus value Lucumi at approximately 20 million euros and Spalletti reportedly has full confidence in the player’s abilities. The Colombian international has given his approval to the transfer, seeking a new challenge after three seasons with Bologna, where he has consistently improved his performance.
Bologna manager Domenico Tedesco is also seeking to bolster his squad following Lucumi’s anticipated departure. Potential replacements include Fedde Leysen of Union Saint-Gilloise, valued at 10 million euros, as well as Bonini, Akcicek, and Pirola. Tedesco identified Miretti as a key target, appreciating his versatility – he can play as an interior midfielder in a three-man midfield, as an attacking midfielder, or as a defensive midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Bologna are also considering a loan renewal for Joao Mario and have expressed interest in Kieron Bowie and Daniel Oyegoke.
These moves signal a reshaping of both squads as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A season. Juventus aim to strengthen their defensive options under Spalletti, while Bologna look to replace key players and continue their project under Tedesco.
