AS Monaco are considering a move for Nice forward Mohamed-Ali Cho this summer, according to L’Équipe. The potential transfer comes as Monaco anticipate departures in their attacking line, with Folarin Balogun, Maghnes Akliouche, and potentially Alexandre Golovine all likely to leave the club.
Cho, 22, had a relatively quiet season with Nice, scoring five goals in 37 appearances across all competitions. Despite this, his profile as a forward capable of playing in multiple positions is seen as a valuable asset for Monaco, who are currently lacking depth in attack. He remains under contract with Nice until June 2028.
Nice are expected to begin pre-season training this Wednesday, including initial medical examinations for players. This suggests Cho will be present with the squad despite the potential for a transfer. The club has indicated a willingness to allow Cho to depart as part of a broader squad overhaul this summer.
Monaco have previously shown interest in Matthis Abline of Nantes, with two bids reportedly rejected, the most recent reaching €17 million plus €3 million in bonuses. While interest in Abline remains, Cho has emerged as another viable option as Monaco seek to strengthen their forward line.
The move would allow Cho to remain in Ligue 1, potentially offering a fresh start after a season where he didn’t fully establish himself as a consistent goalscorer for Nice. For Monaco, securing Cho would add a versatile attacking option and address a key area of weakness within the squad.
