Mamadou Coulibaly is in advanced talks to extend his contract with AS Monaco, according to reports from L’Équipe and confirmed by Nice-Matin. The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to sign a new deal, building on his current contract which runs until June 2028. This news arrives as Monaco undertakes significant squad restructuring ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Coulibaly recently completed his first full season since recovering from a serious knee injury – a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament suffered in May 2024 – making 36 appearances across all competitions. His return to fitness and subsequent integration into the first team has been a positive development for the club, and he has since featured in the Champions League. The extension reflects Monaco’s commitment to nurturing talent from their academy.
Prior to his injury, Coulibaly was considered a promising youth prospect, progressing through the ranks at Monaco. His rehabilitation and successful reintegration into the squad demonstrate both his resilience and the club’s investment in his development. He has also earned his first caps for the France Under-21 national team, further highlighting his potential.
Monaco are actively working to reshape their squad, anticipating both departures and arrivals in roughly equal measure. The extension of Coulibaly’s contract, following Samuel Nibombe’s recent renewal until 2030, suggests a strategy of securing key young players. This move solidifies Monaco’s midfield options and provides continuity as they aim to compete in Ligue 1 and potentially return to European contention.
