Monaco have confirmed the signing of French winger Mathys Detourbet on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The move was officially announced by the Ligue 1 club on Thursday, bringing the 19-year-old to the Stade Louis II for the upcoming campaign.
Manchester City acquired Detourbet from Troyes earlier this summer, with reports suggesting a transfer fee of around €25 million, as previously reported by L’Équipe. Troyes, like Manchester City, is part of the City Football Group, facilitating the initial move for the promising young talent. Detourbet’s immediate loan to Monaco indicates a strategic development plan for the player within the wider network.
Last season, Detourbet was a key player for Troyes in Ligue 2, making 37 appearances and contributing significantly to their title-winning campaign. He scored four goals and provided seven assists, showcasing his attacking prowess and creative ability.
