Monaco are showing strong interest in signing Sadibou Sané from FC Metz, according to L’Équipe. The 21-year-old central defender is entering the final year of his contract with Metz and has become one of the most sought-after players in their squad following the club’s relegation to Ligue 2.
Sané progressed through the Génération Foot academy before joining Metz in 2023 and has since made 71 professional appearances for the club, including 37 in Ligue 1. He has also represented Senegal at the Under-20 level. The defender experienced a more consistent run of form in the latter half of the recently concluded season, playing the full 90 minutes in each of Metz’s final fourteen Ligue 1 matches.
Monaco are anticipating significant changes to their squad this summer and are actively seeking players with potential. The club from the Principality are closely monitoring Sané’s development, recognising his growing influence within the Metz team. Werder Bremen of the German Bundesliga are also reported to be considering a move for the Senegalese international, attracted by his combative style of play.
While a transfer fee has not yet been disclosed, Metz’s relegation to Ligue 2 may make them more open to offers for key players. Sané’s contract situation further strengthens Monaco’s negotiating position. The potential arrival of Sané would add depth to Monaco’s defensive options as they look to challenge in Ligue 1 next season, and could provide competition for existing centre-backs.
