Gabriel Moscardo will spend the 2024-2025 season on loan at Espanyol Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed. The agreement, reported by L’Équipe, is a straightforward loan deal with no option for the Spanish club to make the transfer permanent. The 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder will return to Paris at the end of the season.
Moscardo arrived at PSG in January 2024 from Corinthians for a reported fee of €20 million, but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the French champions. He was immediately loaned to Braga, where he featured in 39 matches across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist. The move to Espanyol represents a continued effort by PSG to provide the young player with regular first-team football.
Prior to his loan spell at Braga, Moscardo had also been lined up for a loan move to Reims, though that deal was ultimately impacted by injuries. Throughout the 2023-2024 season, the player experienced issues with his hip and hamstring, hindering his development. He signed a contract with PSG that runs until 2028, indicating the club’s long-term faith in his potential.
The decision to loan Moscardo to Espanyol suggests PSG are prioritizing consistent playing time over immediate integration into their first team. Espanyol, currently in La Liga, will provide a platform for him to gain valuable experience in a top-five European league. This loan move allows PSG to assess Moscardo’s progress without interrupting their own squad dynamics, and potentially integrate him into the first team in future seasons.
