Kosovo international Vedat Muriqi has completed a permanent transfer from Real Majorca to Fenerbahçe for a reported fee of €15 million, the Spanish club announced on Friday. The 32-year-old striker has signed a three-year contract with the Turkish Super Lig side, returning to a club he previously represented during the 2019-2020 season.
Muriqi enjoyed a prolific spell with Real Majorca, becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer in La Liga with 57 goals in four and a half seasons. He finished the recent La Liga campaign as the league’s second-highest scorer with 23 goals, trailing only Kylian Mbappé’s 25. Despite his impressive goalscoring record, Muriqi was unable to prevent Majorca from finishing 18th and suffering relegation to La Liga2.
Prior to joining Majorca in January 2022, Muriqi had spells in Kosovo, Albania, and with several Turkish second-tier clubs. His performances earned him a move to Lazio in 2020, though he struggled to establish himself in the Italian capital. It was at Majorca where he truly flourished, quickly becoming a key player and fan favourite.
Real Majorca also confirmed the departure of right-back Pablo Maffeo to Olympiakos for a fee of approximately €3 million. Maffeo made 160 appearances for the Balearic Island club since arriving in 2022. Muriqi’s departure leaves a significant void in Majorca’s attack as they prepare for life in the second tier, while Fenerbahçe will hope his goalscoring form continues in Istanbul. The move provides Muriqi with a return to familiar surroundings and a chance to compete at a high level.
