Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is aiming to reshape the squad and balance the club’s finances by making 25 players available for transfer this summer, according to reports in Italy. The move comes as De Laurentiis acknowledges past overspending and seeks to streamline a large playing roster.
Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s sporting director, faces a challenging task in offloading players, with a mix of established names and younger prospects on the list. The club’s wage bill is a key concern, and De Laurentiis has reportedly received over 200 player proposals in the last month, but prioritizes departures before considering new signings. The list is divided into potential sales of players with established value, and those of younger players who may not immediately feature in the first team.
Among the players identified for a possible exit is Romelu Lukaku, whose contract represents a significant financial burden for the club, reportedly worth €12 million annually. The club are hoping Lukaku’s market value can be boosted by a strong showing in the upcoming European Championship. Other notable names include goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, who cost the club €21 million in a previous transfer, and defender Olivera, who was previously linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
The report details a comprehensive list of potential departures across all positions, including several youth players. Napoli are hoping to reduce the number of players they need to sell from 25 to 13 by giving opportunities to promising youngsters. The club are also looking to generate funds from players who spent last season on loan, such as Folorunsho and Zerbin.
De Laurentiis has indicated a willingness to consider offers for established players, but also acknowledges the need to respect previous investments. The upcoming transfer window is expected to be a busy one for Napoli as they attempt to rebuild and reshape the squad under new management, with the aim of returning to a competitive position in Serie A.
