Nikolas Nartey has signed a contract extension with VfB Stuttgart, committing his future to the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2028. The Danish midfielder’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current season, creating a period of uncertainty regarding his long-term future.
Stuttgart board member for sport, Fabian Wohlgemuth, acknowledged Nartey’s challenging time with the club, citing a history of injuries. Wohlgemuth emphasized the club’s satisfaction with Nartey’s recent development into a “reliable and important factor” within the team, highlighting his versatility and ability to influence play from multiple positions. The extension, according to Wohlgemuth, was a logical step for both parties.
Nartey has become a regular feature for Stuttgart this season, making 36 appearances across all competitions. During these appearances, he has contributed three goals and four assists, demonstrating his growing influence in the final third. His performances have been particularly notable given his previous injury setbacks, which initially hampered his progress after joining the club.
The player himself expressed his happiness at remaining with VfB Stuttgart, praising the team spirit, coaching staff, and the passionate support of the club’s fans. Nartey stated that all elements aligned well at Stuttgart, fostering an environment conducive to both team and individual development. He expressed his excitement about continuing his journey with the team.
Nartey initially joined Stuttgart in January 2022 from FC Nordsjælland, but his early time with the club was significantly impacted by a serious knee injury. He has since worked his way back to full fitness and established himself as a valuable member of the squad. This contract extension rewards his perseverance and commitment, securing a promising midfielder for Stuttgart’s future plans. The deal provides stability in midfield for Stuttgart as they continue to push for European qualification.
