Andrea Natali is set to complete a permanent transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to AZ Alkmaar, becoming the second player to depart Die Werkself on a permanent deal following Alejo Sarco. The Eredivisie side are poised to secure the 18-year-old centre-back after a loan spell, signalling their confidence in his long-term potential.
According to Kicker, the transfer fee is expected to reach €3 million, potentially rising with performance-based bonuses. Bayer Leverkusen have also negotiated a 25% sell-on clause, ensuring they will benefit from any future profit made by AZ Alkmaar should they choose to sell Natali at a later date. The agreement between the two clubs is reportedly complete, with the transfer expected to be finalised in the coming days.
Despite interest from several Italian clubs and Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, Natali has chosen to continue his development with AZ Alkmaar. During his loan period, the Italian U19 international has featured primarily for the club’s youth teams, gaining valuable experience in competitions such as the UEFA Youth League.
Natali arrived at Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer from FC Barcelona two years ago, adding to their youth setup. Prior to joining Die Werkself, he played a significant role in Italy’s triumph at the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where the team conceded only two goals en route to the title. His strong defensive contribution at youth level initially attracted the attention of several European clubs.
This move provides Natali with a clear pathway to first-team football in the Eredivisie, a league known for developing young talent. For AZ Alkmaar, the signing represents a long-term investment in a promising defender with international experience.
