OGC Nice have announced the appointment of Olivier Pantaloni as their new manager, with the club confirming a two-year contract according to L’Équipe. This follows the departure of Claude Puel, whose contract with the Ligue 1 side recently expired. Puel had returned to Nice in December 2025, managing 27 matches and securing eight victories, but ultimately oversaw a season where the club narrowly avoided relegation through a play-off against AS Saint-Étienne.
Pantaloni’s arrival marks a significant change for Nice, who endured a difficult campaign last season. The former Lorient manager will be tasked with stabilising the club and improving their league position. He will be expected to implement a more consistent style of play and build a competitive squad.
Alongside the managerial change, OGC Nice have also announced a change in club presidency. Maurice Cohen, who previously held the position from 2002 to 2009, will replace Jean-Pierre Rivère. The club stated that Cohen’s experience, deep understanding of the club, and commitment to its values will be valuable as they enter this new phase. Rivère will remain head of the club’s endowment fund.
Pantaloni is a well-respected figure in French football, known for his tactical acumen and ability to develop young players. He previously managed Lorient for a significant period, establishing them as a solid mid-table Ligue 1 team. His appointment represents a return to a club he is familiar with, and he will be eager to make a positive impact. The move is seen as a strategic decision by the club to bring in a manager with a clear vision and a proven track record.
The appointment of Pantaloni and Cohen signals a clear intent from OGC Nice to rebuild and move forward after a challenging period. The club will be hoping that this new leadership can provide the stability and direction needed to achieve their ambitions in Ligue 1.
