Victor Osimhen has been reported to Italian authorities by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Italia for alleged misappropriation, according to a report from Italian media. The Galatasaray striker, who joined the Turkish club from Napoli, is accused of failing to pay approximately 90,000 euros in leasing installments for a hybrid GLE vehicle. The contract was reportedly signed in 2023, and the complaint alleges Osimhen also did not return the car at the end of the lease term. The legal representative of the company filed the report with the Carabinieri station in the Crescenzago area of Milan. The case is now under preliminary investigation, during which evidence will be gathered and Osimhen is expected to be contacted to clarify his position.
This legal matter emerges as Osimhen continues his career in Turkey following a high-profile move from Napoli last summer. The transfer followed a prolific spell in Serie A where the Nigerian forward established himself as one of Europe's most sought-after strikers, culminating in a key role in Napoli's 2022-23 Scudetto-winning campaign. His current club, Galatasaray, secured his services on a permanent deal, although the exact transfer fee was not publicly disclosed.
The complaint highlights a stark contrast between the alleged unpaid debt and Osimhen's well-documented affinity for luxury automobiles. During his time in Naples, he was frequently photographed with high-end vehicles, including a custom blue Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Since moving to Turkey, he has been seen with a black Lamborghini Revuelto, a model valued in the millions, and is reported to have a collection that also includes a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and a Lamborghini Urus. This public persona as a collector of supercars makes the allegations of an unpaid lease for a single vehicle particularly notable.
For now, the footballing implications remain separate from the legal process. Osimhen has been a regular starter for Galatasaray, contributing goals as the club challenges domestically and in Europe. The outcome of the preliminary investigation in Italy will determine if the matter proceeds further. Any potential legal proceedings would be a distraction, but are unlikely to immediately affect his playing status unless they escalate significantly. The situation serves as an off-field complication for the player during a season where his focus is on delivering for his new club.
