Ozan Kabak commits long-term future to Hoffenheim with new deal
TSG Hoffenheim have secured the long-term future of defender Ozan Kabak, announcing a contract extension that ties the Turkish international to the club until the summer of 2031. The deal, confirmed by the Bundesliga side on Tuesday, includes a release clause set at 25 million euros, according to Sky Germany. Kabak's previous contract was due to expire at the end of this season.
Sporting managing director Andreas Schicker hailed the agreement as a significant statement of intent for the club. He stated that Kabak chose to stay despite receiving numerous other offers, calling the defender a central pillar of the team. Schicker praised the player's strength in duels, power, goal threat, and outstanding mentality, qualities he identified as crucial for Hoffenheim's ambitions.
The 26-year-old centre-back joined Hoffenheim from Schalke 04 in 2022 and has re-established himself as a key figure after overcoming a serious knee injury. His new contract represents a major show of faith from the club, which supported him throughout his rehabilitation. Kabak expressed his contentment at the club, stating he feels very much at home in Hoffenheim and sees the sporting potential for continued growth.
In his own comments, Kabak emphasized the trust shown in him by the club, particularly during his long injury layoff. He said he looks forward to being part of the club's ongoing development and achieving their ambitious goals together. This commitment provides stability for a player whose career had previously seen moves to Liverpool and Norwich City on loan before finding a permanent home at Hoffenheim.
The extension and its substantial release clause indicate Hoffenheim's desire to build their defensive unit around Kabak while also protecting his market value. For the player, it offers security and the chance to continue his progression in a league and environment where he has thrived. This move effectively ends speculation about his immediate future and allows both parties to plan with certainty for the coming years, with Hoffenheim aiming to solidify their position in the European qualification places.
