Fiorentina’s sporting director Fabio Paratici outlined his vision for the club’s future at a press conference held at the Viola Park training center in Bagno a Ripoli.
Paratici stated the club aims to become a consistently competitive force in Italian football, explicitly rejecting a continuation of recent mid-table finishes. He expressed dissatisfaction with finishing seventh or eighth for four consecutive years, asserting that he would not accept such results from himself or the club. He did concede that a temporary setback, such as a 14th-place finish, could be tolerated if it paved the way for a return to the top six.
The club’s ownership, Paratici confirmed, is fully committed to building a competitive and sustainable team over the long term, though he cautioned that such a project requires time and cannot be achieved within three months. He acknowledged the existence of a transfer budget but emphasized that it is part of a broader financial strategy encompassing the entire club, not solely the transfer market.
Fiorentina recently appointed Fabio Grosso as their new head coach, succeeding Paolo Vanoli. Paratici praised Vanoli’s work in stabilizing a difficult situation but explained the decision to change managers was based on a forward-looking assessment of who could best achieve the club’s ambitions. Grosso was identified as the sole candidate due to his profile and potential.
Regarding the future of Moise Kean, Paratici confirmed ongoing discussions with the player and his representatives. He described Kean as a valuable asset to both Italian football and Fiorentina, having followed his development since the age of nine. The club hopes to retain Kean as their number nine, but Paratici acknowledged that, like most Italian clubs outside the European elite, Fiorentina may be unable to resist a significant offer for the player.
Fiorentina’s general manager Alessandro Ferrari also addressed rumors regarding a potential sale of the club, firmly stating that the Commisso family, including Giuseppe and Catherine, are dedicated to building a successful team. He pointed to investments in Viola Park and the appointment of Paratici as evidence of this commitment, emphasizing the family’s desire to create a stable and growing club capable of achieving significant results.
This commitment to long-term growth and ambition signals a new era for Fiorentina under the guidance of the Commisso family and the leadership of Fabio Paratici.
