Paris FC have seen a €23 million bid for Matthis Abline rejected by FC Nantes, according to reports in France. The Ligue 2 club are prioritising the 23-year-old forward as a key addition to their attacking options, but are currently some way off Nantes’ valuation.
Nantes, recently relegated from Ligue 1, are reportedly holding out for €30 million plus bonuses for Abline. The Kita family, owners of the club, are hoping a Premier League side will enter the bidding to drive up the price. AS Monaco have also expressed interest, submitting a proposal of €17 million plus bonuses, but it is believed to be below Nantes’ asking price.
Abline has also attracted attention from clubs in England, though the extent of that interest remains unclear. Despite Nantes’ struggles last season, the forward enjoyed a productive campaign, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 35 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. His performances represented a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for the Canaries.
The player himself is reportedly interested in the project at Paris FC, owned by the Arnault family. Paris FC are evidently prepared to pursue the transfer aggressively, but are also considering alternative targets should they fail to reach an agreement with Nantes. The club are not giving up hope of securing Abline’s signature, but the gap in valuation remains a significant obstacle.
Abline joined Nantes in 2021 from Clermont Foot, and has established himself as a consistent performer in the French top flight. His ability to both score and create goals makes him a valuable asset, and explains the interest from multiple clubs. Nantes’ relegation will likely increase pressure to sell key players, but they are determined to secure a fee that reflects Abline’s potential.
