Paris FC has completed a €25 million transfer for Patrick Zabi from Reims, marking the most significant outlay of the summer transfer window in France’s Ligue 1, according to L’Équipe. The deal, which was finalized in February, sees the Ivorian midfielder move to the capital after establishing himself as a key player for Reims.
Across Europe’s top five leagues, the English Premier League has dominated the transfer activity, with clubs demonstrating significant financial power. Tottenham Hotspur secured Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for €108 million, while Manchester City invested €135 million in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Chelsea made the largest single investment, spending €137.3 million on Morgan Rogers, formerly of Aston Villa.
Other notable moves include Anthony Gordon’s transfer from Newcastle to Barcelona for €80 million, and Real Madrid’s acquisition of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for €55 million. AC Milan brought in Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for €74 million, and Bayern Munich added Nathaniel Brown from Frankfurt and Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, both for a reported €50 million each.
While Ligue 1 has not matched the spending of the Premier League, Paris FC has been proactive in strengthening its squad. Alongside Zabi, the club has also secured Diego Coppola (€18 million), Pablo Pagis (€15 million), and Lassine Sinayoko (€8 million). Paris Saint-Germain has yet to make any major signings, with their transfer business likely dependent on player departures and contract negotiations.
Stade Rennais also made a significant investment, bringing in Eliezer Mayenda from Sunderland for €22 million. The summer transfer window remains open until September 1st for most of Europe’s major leagues, with a slightly earlier deadline of August 31st in the Premier League, leaving room for further activity as clubs finalize their squads.
