Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is scheduled to meet with Kylian Mbappe to discuss the player’s recent conduct, according to reports from Diario AS. The meeting, initially planned as a discussion regarding minor issues before the upcoming World Cup, has become urgent following Mbappe’s public criticism of manager Alvaro Arbeloa and concerns over his attitude.
Mbappe has faced scrutiny in recent weeks, including arriving late to a match against Espanyol and a surprising omission from the squad for El Clasico. Following Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Oviedo on Thursday, Mbappe claimed Arbeloa informed him he was the fourth-choice forward and alleged a loss of order within the team, comments Arbeloa has denied. He was audibly whistled by supporters upon entering the game as a substitute.
Perez will reportedly seek to understand Mbappe’s intentions for the next season and reinforce disciplinary expectations. While acknowledging Mbappe as Real Madrid’s best player, Perez also stated that “nobody is irreplaceable,” signaling the club’s willingness to address the situation firmly.
Reports suggest Mbappe’s comments were a direct response to a deteriorating relationship with Arbeloa, stemming from multiple incidents in recent weeks. Furthermore, Mbappe has reportedly made favourable comparisons to a previous managerial spell under Xabi Alonso, hinting at disagreement with Alonso’s dismissal. This adds another layer of complexity to the situation as the club assesses the forward’s commitment and future at the Santiago Bernabeu. The outcome of the meeting could significantly impact team dynamics and Real Madrid’s plans for the upcoming transfer windows.
