Swedish winger Jeremy Agbonifo will spend the 2026-2027 season on loan at Jagiellonia Białystok, RC Lens announced on Tuesday. The 20-year-old joined Lens in January 2025 for a fee of €6.5 million but has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.
Agbonifo spent the most recent season on loan with both FC Basel and his former club, Hacken. At Basel, he made 16 appearances, scoring twice, including one goal in the Europa League. He added another goal in 11 matches for Hacken. The move to Jagiellonia Białystok represents another opportunity for the young player to gain consistent first-team experience.
Lens initially took Agbonifo on a six-month loan from Hacken, with a €1 million loan fee, before making the transfer permanent in the summer of 2025. Despite showing promise with a goal on his debut, he was unable to secure a consistent role in the squad. Jagiellonia Białystok finished third in the Polish league last season and will participate in the Europa League qualification rounds, facing Rangers in the third round in early August.
This loan move allows Agbonifo to potentially feature in European competition with his new club. For Lens, the move provides an opportunity to assess his development further without hindering their first-team plans. The club recently appointed Dino Toppmöller as their new manager, signaling a potential shift in strategy, and Agbonifo does not appear to be a key part of those plans at this time.
