Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has expressed his confidence ahead of the club's Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes. The Georgian international, speaking to Sky Sport, acknowledged the quality of the German champions but insisted his side is ready for the challenge. Kvaratskhelia's comments come amid a stellar debut season for PSG following his high-profile transfer from Napoli last summer.
Kvaratskhelia highlighted the collective spirit within the PSG squad as a key factor. "They have great champions and have had a great season, but we are capable of anything and on the pitch we trust each other," he said. The winger, often referred to as Kvara, also reflected on his own campaign, singling out a spectacular goal against Nantes as a personal highlight while expressing his desire to score even better ones in the crucial fixtures that remain.
The 23-year-old attributed much of his and the team's offensive success to the philosophy of manager Luis Enrique. "Mister Luis Enrique gives a lot of freedom to the offensive players and for us this is fundamental," Kvaratskhelia explained. He added that he is "extremely happy" with his choice to join PSG and proud to be part of the project. His adaptation has been seamless, contributing goals, assists, and defensive work since his arrival.
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique struck a more cautious note in his own pre-match press conference, suggesting Bayern Munich might have a slight edge in consistency. "In terms of consistency, Bayern is slightly ahead of us," the Spanish coach stated. He emphasized the need for a strong defensive performance against one of Europe's best attacks and praised the magical energy the Champions League provides to his players, all of whom are reportedly fit and available for selection.
Luis Enrique also framed the occasion in historical terms, contrasting last season's inaugural Champions League triumph for PSG with the current ambition. "The first time was like a relief for everyone in Paris, now instead we can make history," he said. The manager acknowledged the respect for opponents like Bayern but conveyed a palpable hunger within the squad to defend their crown and improve further. The stage is now set for a tactical battle between two of the continent's most potent teams, with PSG's marquee summer signing, Kvaratskhelia, poised to play a central role.
